Just friends.

At times I would see all the potential in your flaws.
Sometimes I even felt like I was enough.
When I was with you I felt this connection between us but it was my heart sending my brain false narratives.
Sometimes it's hard to feel good about the future when all the signs points to a dead end.
I try to be patient and give people the benefit of the doubt but they see that as an opening to the weakness in my heart for them.
So many people, not enough truth, so much deception, I have all the proof.
Why can't you just be real with me?
Is it because you don't really want to see me with another guy?
So selfish of you to think that you could have your cake and eat it too.
I thought you were different from what I was used to.
All guys tell you lies in hopes that they can keep you near, fearing that the truth is just too much and that you couldn't take it just because they know that you deserve better but can't stand the thought of you actually giving up on them.
To move on to someone that you know will treat you like the rarity you are.
I noticed your confidence and your drive and really wanted to make you mine.
So I stayed around to see what you'd offer. I gave you a chance when I shouldn't have and now look at me, listening to the same old sad songs.
But as they say "Time will tell" and it has.
This isn't the first time you played me for a fool but it's the last time, to tell you the truth.
I demand so much more than what you give to me.
Someone who is at least honest with their intentions instead of someone who is still under terms and conditions.
If I had known that your feelings for me were untrue, I would've just let go like I had started too.
I hope this message delivers loud and clear because I don't think that I have the mileage to continue to be near.
Deceived by men this isn't the start nor will it be the end but in time maybe we could just be friends.
